Speaking Activities (Print)

Hobbies and Free time activities


            Time: 35-60 minutes               
            Possible procedures: A. Students take it in turns to pick up a card and mime the hobby for the other students to guess. 
B. Students take it in turns to choose, describe and guess the hobby. Encourage students to not say any of the words or the hobby on the card.
            Possible structures: Are you good at...? Are you ...? 


            Time: 35 minutes
            Possible procedures: Students take it in turns to describe and guess the names of the hobby from other students' descriptions. Encourage students to not say any of the words on the card or their variations.

Alike: A descriptive video

 

Today,

We are going to watch the video below. It is about a father and his son. 

You are going to:

  • Describe the entire video while you watch it. 
  • You need to describe: 
    • The background:
      •  Place- Where is the person? What's the colour of the place?
      • Surrounding- What furniture or items are in the surrounding?
      • Time-  What time of the day is it?
      • Weather- What is the weather like?
    • Emotion: happy, sad, angry, tired, etc.
    • The clothing of the people
    • The physical features: He has got blond/dark brown/ feathers and He is short/thin/fat/blue
    • Actions of the people: What is he doing? What are they doing?
BE AS DESCRIPTIVE AS POSSIBLE, REMEMBER I CANNOT SEE THE VIDEO.
We will stop at 3:08 of the video to summarise the events thus far in the video and review any learnt vocabulary.
